Melissa Khalinsky began the Business Mums Network in July 2002 out of her frustration at not being able to get business support and help without putting her baby son into childcare.

Now the mother of 7 and 5 year old boys, Melissa is even more aware of the need for mothers and business owners to get support and to work together. As Melissa has listened to her members and learnt more about small business in Australia, the network has evolved to suit those needs.

Melissa’s aim is to help Business Mums across Australia have a voice and confidence in what they are doing for themselves and for their families.

This site was started as Melissa was asked to speak for more organisations as well as write and be a regular contributor to a number of parenting sites on topics relating to being a Mum running a business.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys playing with her 2 boys or watching them play football (she’s been banned from playing too because she’s “no good at kicking”!), or doing cross stitch and making jewellery.
