My latest stitching project

Posted: August 14th, 2009 by Melissa Khalinsky

As a busy WAHM, I don’t have a lot of spare time, but when I do have down time, I like doing craft, especially cross stitch & jewellery making.

My latest stitching project is Jardin d’Jour.  I recently purchased the kit from Bernadette at The Needlework Boutique as a reward for meeting goals. I have posted a picture of the completed chart…

Jardin d'Jour

Rather than the pinks in the picture, I’m stitching in a blue/green or teal thread. It is also the first time I’ve stitched on evenweave rather than aida fabric, so it’s been a learning curve. I’m enjoying the challenge and it’s starting to look great. I’ve done the top left corner so far. I’ll keep you updated with my progress.

MUG Cake

Last week, I made a MUG Cake with the recipe’s from RealMums.com.au. This recipe is so yummy, and perfect for the mid afternoon/morning munchies. It only took around 10 minutes all up and was the perfect size. The only thing – it really does need ice cream or cream with it (I didn’t have any in the house!). I have since stocked up on vanilla, oil, eggs and ice cream so I can enjoy these cakes any time.

Until the end of August, you can download the MUG cake recipe book at www.realmums.com.au simply by subscribing to their email newsletter. To enjoy your MUG cake fully, I recommend a MUG and a spare from the RealMums.com.au shop – this way you can enjoy your MUG cake and your coffee.

My winning ways!

Posted: August 6th, 2009 by Melissa Khalinsky

Sometimes I feel like I’m the one giving away all the cool prizes. I thought I’d take a leaf out of Monique’s book over at Your Cheeky Monkey blog and share some of the goodies I’ve won.

Recently I entered a competition over at the Suz’s Space blog. All I had to do was comment on her blog – how easy is that. I was so excited when Suzie emailed me telling me I’d won. She came over yesterday afternoon to give me my prize – see photo.

 Prize from Suz's Space

The prize includes 4 issues of Super Food Ideas magazine, some kitchen utensils, a chocolate book and a picture. The picture is now up in my bathroom (I don’t have any hooks in my kitchen!) and the serving spoons came in handy last night when I had my bible study group around for desert & games.

Thank you so much Suzie. I can’t wait to use the rest of my prize.
